In northern Rome, people have been “shopping at Rio” for over 20 years. Serena Pierorazio, who took over this intimate apparel and swimwear store in 2001, inherited the name from the first owner, who was in love with Rio de Janeiro, and never changed it. Over the years, however, it has overhauled its image and given new energy to its offer, in line with the tastes of the local clientele: evolved, sophisticated, high spenders. Since 2013, scouting at the ready-to-wear shows has opened up a whole new world: the boutique has integrated both clothing and accessories, expanding beyond the lingerie and swimwear for which it is famous. Serena is an unstoppable force, and together with her friend Ambra, an expert in vintage and shabby chic, in 2018 she began a total restyle and started searching for unusual and unique “goodies. Thus a new contemporary concept was born.
We love this space of curiosity and discovery, in which home furnishings and design encounter a sophisticated fashion collection. A dining table and old-fashioned dresser, second-hand doors, vintage plates and glasses; recycled furniture that has been repainted, sanded, and brought back to life with color, detail, or some original words; room fragrances, diffusers, handmade ceramics, lamps ... All for sale! The pièce-de-résistance? The piano topped with beer bottles that have been relabeled and converted into a light design feature. The garments themselves, neatly displayed in open cabinets and drawers, or scattered here and there in a studiously casual way, play their own games of product similarity, color harmonies and unexpected combinations. This original boutique is not to be missed.
